Now that we blinked our eyes, myspace doesn't seem very cool anymore. As a band, we've been rather lackadaisical with updating the myspace since these young hipsters (yes, I'm trying to sound square) seem to be more interested in facebook and twitter. Not to long ago, we made a facebook for ductape, but it didn't seem very assessable. There is no place upload your music and you can only add a few people at a time. Twitter, although I find it fun, is even less useful for music in nature. We have a link to our myspace page on facebook but I think people see myspace and think "losers". Other than making better music (I know you were thinking that Bruce Wayne, so I'll say that diss before you do), how to you think we can promote our band so we can play shows and have fun?

Very true. Myspace is taking a backseat in world of virtual networking. With so many applications and connections made through Facebook, it hardly surprises me that it's been the website of choice.
Hmm. I guess I should work harder on the facebook thing then. "You have to give the people what they want"
I think that when your trying to get yourself out there you might want to use the digital networks in conjuction with eachother I.e. if your posting something on Facebook than you should be sure to Twitter and Myspace the updates that your posting on Facebook. It s nice to get into the new scene but if your going to expand don't forget your base. These are the folks that do most of the foot work for you and more than through and social networking site they are the best promoters of your stuff.
If that doesn't work as well for you you should think about recording your stuff live and putting it out on YouTube. Yeah it is free and licensing can be a pain but it puts you all out there doing your thing and its an instant reference that you don't have to hound people about. If the video is cool enough it will spread itself. One of the great benefits to YouTube.
Good luck!
Thank you for your input, those are good ideas.
I get where you are coming from and something that I might suggest is that if you know anyone at a local radio station, even the BSC station, see if they would be willing to play some of your music or mention where your guys may be performing.
WORD OF MOUTH! its the best way to get fans and spread the music. Then deffinatly the social networking sites, youtube and the BSC radio station is also a great idea. Also if you have a few bucks you could get like a million stickers for cheap or even flyers with your bands info. Stick em EVERYWHEREEE and you'll get a great response. Also there are a lot of websites that will allow you to make your own website which could be beneficial in some ways.
Thanks for your help everyone! I'll get going on your ideas during the break.
